Month end = always the most hectic day in the office. Booo :(
I woke up today, still with a bad cold so I’m skipping work again…. and boy, I can just imagine the piles and piles of work that I’d have to do when I go back. *sigh*
But for today!!!! I’m going to try and get better and I’d have the time of my life watching all of the movies and series that I haven’t watched yet. For one thing, I’m finally watching Fight Club. LOL. I know. I know. But better late than never, right? I’ll tell you what I think about the movie after I get to watch it, but for now, I’m going to go sleep again in this soft comfy bed. ♥
Deutsche Bank is a great company, I know that, and working with them is a joy (well it has its pains too, but I get by LOL). But what makes this company cooler aside from the cool people that are already in here, are the cool perks too!!! (Did I say the word ‘cool’ enough?)
So today, our boss sent us the latest perk made available by HR.
Cheap Tickets to the 3D Screening of Avengers at Greenbelt + Access to the Party at the Palladium Bar at the New World Hotel with free drinks and food= P150 ONLY!
TOTAL AMAZEBALLS!!!!!
(I never thought that I’d use that word and… Oh, sorry for rudely interrupting myself in such a constant manner.)
The smallest downfall however is that it’s a first come first serve thing. But heck, with the number of free seats available, boy, I know I can get in! We could get in! Me and my awesome team can get in! We’re actually on the lookout for the actual selling day, and if we don’t get those tickets, it’s going to be a war! And if not, Or they’ll just simply receive our resignation letters by the end of the day! LOL JK!
But there! I’m just so excited! This is going to be a war!!!!
I hope the abs of Thor are in 3D too. MWAHAHAHAHAHA.
1st Encounter
I was running late so once the shuttle stopped, I jumped off as quickly as I could and proceeded to look for my ID in my purse. But fate just really wanted to mess with me; I can’t find it anywhere! So I stopped and went to the side, fighting the urge to throw my bag’s contents to the ground just to get it over with. Now while I was struggling, I suddenly saw you right at the corner of my eye, coming out of a car.
I don’t really know you but what I do know is that you’re the new guy. And that you’re also the very loud guy in our floor. After I realized who you were, I just continued to look for my ID in my bag when suddenly, you uttered, “We have a shuttle?”
At first I wasn’t sure if you were talking to me, but of course, you were staring right at me.“Excuse me?”
“We have a shuttle?”
“Aaah.. yes, we have.”
“From where?”
“From Ayala.”
“So you took the train?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Wow. I see. How was the commute?”
“Don’t even try it.”
“Haha! I see, thanks!”
And just like that, you had to leave because someone called you out. And I was left wondering why you started a conversation about transportation—and I suddenly realized that you’re new here in the country anyway.
Still, it felt weird because normally, no Filipino would just casually strike up a conversation like that not unless that person is lost or hitting up on you. But then again, you weren’t a Filipino even if you looked like one.
2nd Encounter
Today is a weekend so I went to Fort for a gig. After that gig, I called for my mom to pick me up; she only knew the way to my workplace, and I was feeling really lazy to even explain the directions on how to get to Bonifacio High Street. So there, I just told her to come fetch me at work.
Off I go to walk from High Street to the 31st street. Fort looked like a ghost city and I don’t think Starbucks would mind if I hung out at their al fresco. Haha! So there I was, just chilling and minding my phone… when ‘lo and behold, I heard someone say, “You’re from the 16th, right?”
At first the question didn’t register. Fuck that thick accent. LOL. But then my mind went to overdrive and so I understood that he was referring to my floor—or our floor, because I instantly recognized you.
“Oh hey, it’s you!” I replied.
I had to shout a bit because you were four tables down from me.
“What are you doing here on a weekend?”
“What are you doing here on a weekend..?”
“Haha! I had to work overtime.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. How about you?”
“Waiting for my ride.”
“I see.”
Silence. You went back to your coffee and I thought that was it, so I went back to my phone, but then you uttered again, “You commuted all the way here? Is there a shuttle?”
“No, I walked from Serendra to here. But from Ayala to Fort, I took the Fort Bus.”
“Oh, so there’s a bus!”
“Yup!”
And there we go again with the talk about transportation. LOL.
Another silence.
But then you spoke up yet again! I can’t remember anymore as to what it was about but you moved three tables nearer to me.
And then, silence followed that again too.
But then you had to ask another thing so finally, you sat across from me without even asking if I wanted you to sit there. Yeaaaah. Call me old-fashioned but usually, people would ask first. But then again, we were practically talking anyway… but still, I dunno. I guess I really am old-fashioned. But that didn’t bother me much. What bothered me really was your thick accent and I was mentally afraid and mentally preparing myself to better tune in to your voice. LOL.
Our talk went to topics of my plans to get a career change, your moving in to the Philippines from New York, your thoughts on our highest boss, the front office work, investment banking, career advancement….gaaaaaah. Yep, we were talking much about work. On a weekend.
Which I was starting to mind because I really was running out of things to say. Well… Actually, you were doing most of the talking… so that’s when I realized that you just wanted to rant. You’re fairly new in the country and I bet you haven’t met friends yet to talk to. So I did my best to let you talk. I listened. In vain. LOLJK. (Gaaaahd. What is up with that thick accent?!?! Haha!)
In the end, you had to leave and I had to leave too. So we said our goodbyes. And I dearly apologize because I forgot your name after you said it. LOL. I’m really bad with names.
But anyway, the experience was just kind of movie-like to me. And can I just say……. of all the people that I could meet that day, it was YOU. But it was actually nice. And I hope next time, I get the chance to talk too. LOL. And I also hope that next week, I can remember your name. HAHA! Jokes aside, I do hope we could be good friends because I could really feel that you could use one.
…Err well, that’s all, that’s just what I wanted to rant about. HAHA! With my encounter with you, today just felt like I was in some place else. Or that I was in some sort of movie. XD
Cheers to meeting new people and friends.

Project 366
This has been up on our department’s board for more than 2 months already and I decided to take a picture of it before it gets replaced by a more recent great achievement by one of our team mates. Haha! I’m very proud of this one :)
*Blurred the other two on purpose.

Project 366
First day at work for 2012 and it was nice to have been given such a sweet surprise. I received this token from the HR person, Chard, who was in-charge of overlooking my on-boarding development with the company. (Yep! Our HR department is awesome like that! Haha!) He’s currently on leave so I have to make a mental note to thank him later on. ★
